What types of pet memorial pieces does Rest By Me offer?
Rest By Me offers two types of memorial pieces: ash-holding urns, designed to keep your pet's ashes safely inside; and symbolic memorial pieces, which serve as a beautiful place for remembrance without holding ashes. All pieces are designed to feel at home within your living space — not hidden away.
How do I choose the right pet urn?
The right piece comes down to how you'd like to remember your pet and where you'd like to keep them. If you want to keep their ashes close indoors, our indoor collection offers beautifully crafted pieces in wood, brass and clay. If you'd prefer a garden memorial, our outdoor collection is designed to endure the elements. Consider also whether you'd like a functional urn or a symbolic piece — both are equally meaningful.
What size urn do I need for my dog or cat?
As a general guide, one kilogram of your pet's body weight equates to approximately one cubic inch of urn capacity. So a 10kg dog would need an urn with at least 10 cubic inches of capacity. Several of our urns are available in two sizes to accommodate different breeds. If you're unsure, feel free to contact us and we'll help you find the right fit.
Are your memorial pieces suitable for all pets?
Yes, while many of our pieces are designed with dogs and cats in mind, our range also includes pieces suited to horses and other beloved animals. If you're unsure which piece is right for your pet, get in touch and we'll point you in the right direction.
Are the urns functional — do they hold ashes?
Most pieces in the Rest By Me collection are functional urns designed to hold your pet's ashes. Each product listing indicates whether a piece holds ashes or is a symbolic memorial. Our outdoor figurine pieces work differently — the bronze figurine and post mark the spot while ashes are placed in the ground beneath.
How are ashes placed inside the urn?
This depends on the piece. Most indoor urns open at the top or base to allow ashes to be placed inside. Our clay urn can also be used as a biodegradable option — if ashes are removed from their plastic bag and placed directly inside, the entire urn can be buried and will biodegrade naturally. Full instructions are included with each piece.
What materials are the urns made from?
Rest By Me pieces are crafted from a range of considered materials including beechwood, red gum timber, clay, brass, bronze, ceramic and sand resin. Each material is chosen for its warmth, longevity and suitability for the home. Material details are listed on each individual product page.

Rest By Me's outdoor collection features bronze figurines mounted on red gum timber posts, which mark a spot where ashes can be buried beneath. They are built to endure Australian weather conditions while remaining beautiful for years to come.
Can you keep pet ashes at home in Australia?
Yes — there are no laws in Australia that prevent you from keeping your pet's ashes at home. Many people find it comforting to keep their pet close in a meaningful vessel. Rest By Me pieces are designed specifically to make that feel considered and personal.
How do I care for my pet's urn?
Care varies by material. Wooden pieces should be kept away from direct sunlight and moisture. Brass and bronze pieces can be gently wiped with a soft dry cloth. Clay and ceramic pieces are delicate and should be handled with care. Detailed care instructions are included with every purchase.
